Dispatched to Smell of nat gas. R/P was customer no longer on location. Manager stated
that fork lift had damaged gas supply to heater. Shut off and locked out gas meter. Took
concentration readings at floor and cieling levels with results of < 1 ppm. Evacuation not
necessary. WNG notified. Repair contractor notified by store personnel.
Note: Asst manager on duty at time of incident did not call 9-1-1. He notified Corporate
headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. who told him they would put all "systems on hold" and call
for local repair contractor. Stressed with both managers the need to report any emergent
situation to the fire department. Manager stated this was a "wake up call " and that he
would establish emergency procedures with his new managers. Offered assistance in
formulating store policy related to emergency procedures.
