At 0840 hours on Wednesday October 20, 2004 we were dispatched to a chemical hazard
(no spill or leak). Two units were assigned to this incident. Four personnel responded. We
arrived on scene at 0848 hours and cleared at 0959 hours. The incident occurred at 5100 S
159 St, Tukwila in District 004. The local station is 51. The general description of this
property is graded and cared -for plot of land. The primary task(s) performed at the scene
by responding personnel were to identify and analyze hazardous materials. Other special
haz mat actions were also taken. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0003492 has been assigned to this incident.
Dispatched to reported findings of the remains of a meth lab. Found by a Tukwila Police
Officer. Bunkered up and on air. Found two 35 gallon sized garbage bags and an open
topped five gallon bucket with three one gallon plastic jugs inside on the ground and next
to a metal garbage can. TPD Officer had opened one of the bags and observed aparent
meth materials in the bag. He also stated that there was a strong odor coming from the
bag. Found that the materials had been double bagged and neatly tied closed.
In bucket were three plastic one gallon jugs that were stained red but contained no product.
In the open bag we observed several empty lye bottles, a couple hydrogen peroxide bottles,
a couple drain cleaner bottles, a couple iodine bottles, a plastic funnel, several paper
absorbent towels. All containers were empty. Moisture beading on the inside of the
garbage bag.
Untied the outer and inner bags on the second bag. Found Misc tubing and tubing with a
spray nozzle on the end. Small amount of residual liguid in the tubing. An aluminum
funnel, misc paper absorbant towels and a couple more water jugs that had been colored
red on the inside.
B-51 called DOE and they are coming out for an immediate pickup. Overpacked items
into a 20 gallon overpack drum. DOE arrived. Explained what we found and turned the
overpack drum over to DOE.
E-51 responded on #04-3495. B-51 closed the incident a few minutes later.
