On arrival the pt was standing outside next to the road. A54 examined the pt, pt was left at the scene with MIRF #973063. The pt was also the owner of the car that had the spilled material in question. On arrival of E52, contact was made with the pt by the driver, the officer and E52 third donned full PPE and investigated vehicle in question. The vehicle was parked on the street just South of the given address. The vehicle was a 1989 Honda Accord. License plate #659 JXT. The pt/owner stated the car had been stolen and picked the car up from impound earlier in the day. The owner reported smelling a gas or acetone type smell in the car. After she opened the trunk she found some spilled material and a 5 gallon can with a flammable label on it. After investigation by E52 crew, it was determined that materials used to clean, and or use in vehicles was found spilled on the bottom of the trunk area. Motor oil residue and a type of acetone cleaner was mixed together and had been spilled in the trunk. The 5 gallon can label said tar, however, it is believed that used motor of /acetone cleaner was the product actually in the container that had spilled. Absorbent pads were already in the trunk area placed there by the same individual that had the car prior. No immediate hazard was found. The owner was notified that the trunk should stay open until they could remove the remainder of the spill and acetone odor. The total amount of spilled product was about 1-2 quarts with half already absorbed by pads. Most of the remaining product was absorbed with pads by E52. Owner to complete clean-up to their satisfaction.
