At 0616 hours on Monday August 29, 2005 we were dispatched to a chemical spill/leak.
Seven units were assigned to this incident. Fifteen personnel responded. We arrived on
scene at 0625 hours and cleared at 0742 hours. The incident occurred at 1227 ANDOVER
Park E, Tukwila in District 005. The local station is 51. The general description of this
property is manufacturing, processing. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by
responding personnel was investigation. Other special haz mat actions were also taken.
Automatic aid was received on this incident.
One patient was involved with this incident.
E51 found the smell of ammonia coming form the Shasta Building. E51 was given 1
patient to treat by B51. After patient was transported to Valley Medical Hospital E51 was
sent into the building and up to the roof to check for a liquid puddle of ammonia. E51
found ammonia in a puddle on the roof. The liquid was tested with Ph paper strips and
showed positive for ammonia. E51 set up a fan on the roof at the spill site to speed up the
evaporation process. E51 then returned in service.
Alarm number 0503036 has been assigned to this incident.
