One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 0830 hours and cleared at 0854 hours. The incident occurred at 13138 INTERURBAN Ave S, Tukwila in District 001. The local station is 53. The general description of this property is service station, gas station. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 0503386 has been assigned to this incident. E53 dispatched to a reported gasoline spill of approximately 5 gallons. Enroute E53 was advised that this was from a car driving away with the nozzle still in the gas tank opening. E53 arrived to find approximately 2 to 3 gallons on the ground. E53 investigated and found multiple vehicles fueling in the area of the spill. E53 found the severed hose connection still leaking fuel from the pump side of the hose even with the pump shut down. The pump did not shut down on its own after the hose separated. The hose parted at a fail safe connection. An employee was informed by a customer of the parted hose and the employee shut off the pump from inside the store and then went out and shut off the pump at the island. E53 found an unintentional fuel spill due to a vehicle leaving with the nozzle in the tank opening thereby pulling the hose apart. E53 bagged the leaking fuel line to contain the leak and mitigated the fuel spill with absorbent pads from the service station and amerizorb. Made contact with manager to make sure that the repair tech services the check valves in the hose lines for proper operation. E53 returned in service.
