McFarland, Loren Author Rank LT Author Assignment 1 Narrative Text At 0854 hours on Tuesday November 15, 2005 we were dispatched to a gas leak. Six units were assigned to this incident. Seven personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 0900 hours and cleared at 0932 hours. The incident occurred at 16840 Southcenter Pky, TUKWILA in District 006. The local station is 51. The general description of this property is general retail. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. Other special haz mat actions were also taken. Automatic aid was received on this incident. Alarm number 0504088 has been assigned to this incident. Upon arrival manager met us outside and stated that there was a strong odor of natural gas inside of the business. Entered the business and did have a moderate odor of natural gas in the business. Security went with us. He states that there has been no recent work. Checked in the manufacturing area where they have three stations with torches and found no leaks there. Obtained the micromax from B-51 and went back inside to check the area out further. In the back storeroom and the restrooms the micromax did give brief readings of 2 percent LEL. B-51 had the gas meter shut down for this occupancy. Odor started to disipate. PSE arrived and he found low levels of gas in the manufacturing area and then in the back storage area. In the storage area a flex line branches off of fixed piping and goes to the manufacturing area. PSE did not think that this supplied the torches in manufacturing but investigating found that it did. PSE believes that a torch was slightly leaking all night but they are going to perform a pressure test on the building interior system. E-521 in service/ returning.
