Alarm number 0601681 has been assigned to this incident.
E53 arrived to find single family residential natural gas meter knocked off the gas line,
probably by a motor vehicle. E53 investigated, pulled a precautionary line, and used a
channel lock pliers to shut off the gas line at the valve. E53 secured the gas valve with a
lockout plug. E53 observed a Bic type lighter on the ground, right at the gas line, on the
north side of the line. Occupants said they had seen a faded maroon van pull away from
their driveway, right after hearing a noise. Suspecting an arson attempt, E53 dispatched a
fire investigator, and kept the possible crime scene under continuous observation until the
investigator's arrival. M51 responded & investigated. E53 used the Micro Max to check
the residence for residual natural gas or other hazardous conditions. Finding none, E53
released the residence to the four occupants. E53 returned in service, leaving the scene to
M51.
