Author Assignment 1
Narrative Text At 0833 hours on Friday September 15, 2006 we were dispatched to a chemical hazard (no
spill or leak). Three units were assigned to this incident. Seven personnel responded. We
arrived on scene at 0838 hours and cleared at 0905 hours. The incident occurred at 1179
Andover Park W, Tukwila in District 006. The local station is 51. The general description
of this property is warehouse. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding
personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Two patients were involved with this incident.
Alarm number 0603321 has been assigned to this incident.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
E51 dispatched to 1179 Andover Park West for an ODOR INVESTIGATION. While en
route E52 was added (due to number of 9-1-1 calls). B51 added himself from a previous
alarm.
On arrival E51 found a large commercial structure (two story concrete tilt -up) with nothing
visible, but a faint chemical/solvent type odor evident from the front of the building.
RP (Terrie) stated that the smell was first detected at approximately 0645 and had been
getting steadily worse through the morning. She also informed us that the Maytag space
bad had its concrete floor resealed the night before.
Investigation at the Maytag store (three tenant spaces down from 1179) revealed a much
stronger odor (chemical/solvent) Worker on location (Mike Jones) stated that the roll -up
doors for this space had been opened for the day at approximately 0630. The was a steady
breeze from the south towards 1179 Andover Park West.

Narratives
A check of the neighboring spaces revealed various concentrations of the odor, but no
detectable traces using E51's MicroMax air monitor. Occupants were advised to have
doors and windows open to facilitate dispersal of the odor from their spaces.
E52 examined two individuals from 1179 APW (see MIR for further details).
There was no further hazard, and the odor dissipated significantly during the time TFD
units were on location.
