Two units were assigned to this incident. Four personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 2054 hours and cleared at 2339 hours. The incident occurred at 16000 W Valley Hwy, Tukwila in District 005. The local station is 51. The general description of this property is highway or divided highway. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 0604197 has been assigned to this incident. B51 arrived to find diesel leaking from a large gash in one of the saddle tanks of a tractor trailer. B51 set up command and investigated to find out if the fuel had made its way into the river which was about 100 feet to the west of the incident. E51 arrived with Utility 51 (Hazmat tow rig) and placed a 66 gallon Prowler Pool under the driver's side leaking saddle tank which had about a 6 inch gash in it about 1/4 up from the bottom of the tank. Plug 'n Dike was then used to patch the tank whcih stopped the leak immediately. There was an estimated 30-40 gallons of fuel already on the road when the leak was stopped. Abosorbant pads were used to pick up a good portion of the fuel and then Amerizorb was spread out over the entire area. A total of 43 bags were used. Page: 3 Printed: 11/21/2006 11:20:52 • Incident Report 2006-0604197 -000 Tukwila Fire Department Narratives A DOT truck with a pump and a 100 gallon tank was used to pump out all of the remaining fuel from the truck in case the leak did not hold. Once the clean up was complete, the police tested the area by driving through and braking hard. It was determined that more Amerizorb was required, so Utility 51 brought back another 11 bags and they were spread out on top of the spill. Here are the total products used: 43 bags Amerizorb (1) 66 gallon Prowler Pool 3 large bags aborbent pads 4 cups Plug 'n Dike The accident involved a passenger vehicle besides the truck involved. The owner of the passenger vehicle fled the scene on foot. At the time of the report, it was uncertain who was at fault in the accident.
