At 1333 hours on Wednesday February 14, 2007 we were dispatched to a hazmat release
investigation with no hazmat. Three units were assigned to this incident. Seven personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 1333 hours and cleared at 1402 hours. The incident
occurred at 444 Andover Park E, Tukwila in District 005. The local station is 51. The
general description of this property is fire station. The primary task(s) performed at the
scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or
received.
Alarm number 0700522 has been assigned to this incident.
E51 was asked by Minkler Shops to ID products that were picked up by a Street
Department Employee and taken back to Minkler Shops. The products were dumped in
Tukwila along with 10 yards of materials according to Stan Anderson.
The products appeared to by used motor oil and very old cans of paint. There was no
indidcation after talking to Stan that there was any potentially hazardous chemicals in the
containers. If there were any signs of an old clandenstine lab, the products would have
been handled more carefully.
The products were opened by FF Denney and FF Lindsey. Both wore eye protection and
gloves. The products appeared to be oil and paint as we suspected.
The oil will be taken to Interurban Shops to be disposed of, and since the paint was oil
based, it will need to be picked up by the DOE. I will handle getting it picked up myself,
and I have tied in with the BC's and Station 51 Lts. through e-mail.
