Narrative Text At 0842 hours on Wednesday June 27, 2007 we were dispatched to a gasoline or other
flammable liquid spill. One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel responded.
We arrived on scene at 0846 hours and cleared at 0905 hours. The incident occurred at
10805 EAST MARGINAL Way S, TUKWILA in District 008. The local station is 53. The
general description of this property is service station, gas station. The primary task(s)
performed at the scene by responding personnel was hazard removal. No mutual/automatic
aid was given or received.
E53 responded to a reported gasoline spill at the Chevron station at the above address.
The estimate was 8 gallons. It was actually 2-3 gallons. The vehicle owner had apparently
struck something while on the road which had punctured his gas tank. The gas station
owner had used a petroleum absorbent on the gasoline which had greatly suppressed the
vapors and a 2 gallon bucket which contained an additional 1/2 gallon
of gasoline. E53 personnel used brooms to spread this material around and then shoveled
it into a trash container for the gas station owner. The owner was commended for his
actions.
