Narrative Text At 0344 hours on Sunday February 10, 2008 we were dispatched to a gasoline or other
flammable liquid spill. One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel responded.
We arrived on scene at 0350 hours and cleared at 0401 hours. The incident occurred at
5700 S 178 St, Tukwila in District 006. The local station is 51. The general description of
this property is residential street, road or residential driveway. The primary task(s)
performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic
aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0800558 has been assigned to this incident.
E51 dispatched to gasoline spill from car. On arrival, E51 was told by driver & passenger
that they had bottomed out their car while driving up the 178 St. hill, and had caused a
gasoline leak. When they called AAA for a tow, AAA told them that the Fire Department
would have to deal with the leak before AAA would give them a tow.
E51 discovered that the gas line leaked only when the ignition was on, which caused the
fuel pump to pump & spill fuel. E51 instructed the driver that the car was OK to tow, as
long as the fuel pump was not operating.
E51 returned in service.
