Narrative Text At 1627 hours on Thursday March 20, 2008 we were dispatched to a gas leak. One unit
was assigned to this incident. Four personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1633
hours and cleared at 1641 hours. The incident occurred at 14638 Tukwila Intl Blvd,
Tukwila in District 011. The local station is 54. The general description of this property is
vehicle parking area. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel
was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0801111 has been assigned to this incident.
Dispatched to odor of propane outside due to this party opening a vehicle propane tank
that he was transporting in the trunk of his car. His story was difficult to follow. He was
parked where he was because his other car was there, at a Pizza Hut store. When I asked
him why he opened the valve to the tank he said it was over pressurized. I asked him how
he knew that it was overpressurized, he said the guy he got it from said it was full. I got the
impression he was trying to drain the tank because he said he was going to replace the tank
he had in the car ( a 1pg powered vehicle ) with this one. I advised him that attempting to
drain a tank of that size in a populated area is going to get the fire department there every
time. I also advised him that the place that is going to change out the tank can probably
reclaim the gas to another tank instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. KB
