Narrative Text At 1103 hours on Saturday March 22, 2008 we were dispatched to an oil or other
combustible liquid spill. Three units were assigned to this incident. Five personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 1113 hours and cleared at 1204 hours. The incident
occurred at 8555 PERIMETER Rd S, Tukwila in District 009. The local station is 53. The
general description of this property is motor vehicle or boat sales, services, repair. The
primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation.
Automatic aid was received on this incident.
Alarm number 0801132 has been assigned to this incident.
L54 arrived to find approximately 50 gallons of a mixture of oil and jet fuel used to run a
heater in the shop on the floor and into the parking lot. The mixture was mainly kerosene
and used motor oil.
There were no storm drains near the spill and the occupants contained the spill with
absorbent pads. The mixture had a flashpoint of well over 100 degrees so it did not pose
any flammable risk. All of the circuits were shut off in the building just in case and the
micromax was used throughout the building and around the building with no readings
detected.
Once it was determined that the incident had been stabilized, Mar-Vax was called by King
County Airport to clean up the spill. L54 remained on scene until their arrival to see if our
assistance was required.
Once a tie-in was done with the clean-up company, L54 cleared the scene. There was no
further action required by L54.
