Two units were assigned to this incident. Six personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1912 hours and cleared at 1956 hours. The incident occurred at 12820 Gateway Dr, Tukwila in District 001. The local station is 53. The general description of this property is adult education center, college classroom. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel were hazardous materials leak control and containment. Other special haz mat actions were also taken. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 0801382 has been assigned to this incident. E53 and E52 dispatched at 19:07 to 12820 Gateway dr #100, for a natural gas leak. E53 arrived on location to find a 200' X 50' two story educational facility, With nothing visible, not evacuated. I directed E52 to standby . E53 made contact with Wayne Scamuffa. Mr. Scamuffa was the reporting party of the gas leak. Mr. Scumuffa took me to the gas meter were the leak was located. The main gas meter had a fitting that was leaking enough product to be detected from five feet away. E53 advised dispatch of the size and location of the leak, requested PSE and code greened E52. Patrick Smith and I used the Micromax to monitor the interior and exterior of the structure. The Micromax readings were negative inside the structure, so there was no need to postpone classes and evacuate the building at this time. PSE arrived on location at 19:53. I advised PSE of the situation and the location of the problem. Ron, the PSE technician tightened the fitting to stop the leak and he used his monitor to detect any other leaks. E53 in service returning.
