Narrative Text At 1504 hours on Friday September 19, 2008. Three units were assigned to this incident.
Six personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1510 hours and cleared at 1626 hours.
The incident occurred at 11621 E MARGINAL Way S, TUKWILA in District 007. The
local station is 53. The general description of this property is business office. The primary
task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No
mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Suspected hazardous power substance from an envelope at a mail receiving business. The
business take and opens damaged mail for Comcast that is sent to them by the Postal
Service. While opening a envelope white power about 3 tablespoons spilled onto the
sorting table. There we also a couple of unopened envelopes that were unopened that had
some on the power in a wet form on them. When the power was wet it turned a cream
color.
E53 driver and position 3 were sent inside in level "C" PPE to take photo's and look at any
writing and postage on the envelopes. After using the suspicious substance checklist and a
review by the BC and department Safety Officer the substance was not considered a threat.
The occupants were advise that they could soak the powder in bleach prior to disposal. 1p
Alarm number 0803630 has been assigned to this incident.
