Edwards, Randall q.t., CAPT 1 At 1033 hours on Monday December 29, 2008 we were dispatched to a chemical spill/leak. Five units were assigned to this incident. Eleven personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1039 hours and cleared at 1122 hours. The incident occurred at 3215 S 116 St, Tukwila in District 007. The local station is 53. The general description of this property is warehouse. Other special haz mat actions were also taken. Mutual aid was received on this incident. E53 was dispatched to the smell of gas inside a building. On arrival E53 was meet by the business manager who stated they smelled gas in the back of the tenant space in storage area. E53 did a 360 and established 116th command. The had all incoming unit stand by on 116th with the exception of the next in apparatus crew to report to E53. 116th Command had the crew form E53 use the micro max and check the tenant space and L54 to check the adjoining spaces. E53 report level of 3ppm. B51 assume command of the incident and E53 officer assisted at the command post. L54 then did a outside sweep of the area and then back into the tenant space. L54 found in the tenant space a BBQ with and open Propane tank the had higher readings. L54 shut the tank down and reported back to command. B51 then handed the incident back to E53 and 116th command was disbanded. E53 had the business manger remove the propane tank from the structure because it was not listed for use inside. Then E53 officer discussed the remaining Propane tanks inside the structure and the amounts and conditions needed to keep them inside. Per condition of the IFC sec3809.0-3809.10. The manager of the business decided it would be a better operation to remove all Propane tanks off site.
