Five units were assigned to this incident. Thirteen personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1907 hours and cleared at 2338 hours. The incident occurred at 4617 S 140 St, Tukwila in District 011. The local station is 54. The general description of this property is 1 or 2 family dwelling. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 0903492 has been assigned to this incident. L54 dispatched to a non aid service call. Upon our arrival the home owner advised us that oil was leaking from the furnace in the basement. We found Fuel oil leaking from the supply line to the furnace where it went into the concrete floor. We attempted to stop the leak by crimping the fuel line (copper) which did not work. we placed absorbent pads around the floor surrounding the furnace. We also placed 2 bags of Amerizorb on the outer edge of the spill to contain the fuel. We then cut the fuel line and attempted to plug the leak with pig putty. This did not work as the fuel was now coming up from the concrete around the putty. I called E51 to bring some more pads and bags. E51's crew did some air monitoring. The air monitor remained in the normal range for the duration of the incident. I tried getting a hold of Cascade fuel as this is who recently filled the fuel tank with around 400 gallons of fuel. I left a call back number, however, I never received a call back. I then had B51 dispatched to assist in getting a hold of a company that could come and pump out the fuel. We had the owners Son remove her for the night. E53 was added for the electric fan for ventilation. B51 was able to get a hold of Sound fuel to come and pump out the remaining fuel. When Sound Fuel arrived and pumped out the fuel the leak stopped. We used 2 bags of Amerzorb, approximately 125 absorbent pads and 4 hazardous waste bags to clean up the mess. the bags of waste were left at the scene in hazardous waste bags. Sound fuel put down some powder to absorb the remaining fuel on the floor.
