Narrative Text At 1907 hours on Monday November 2, 2009 we were dispatched to a hazmat release
investigation with no hazmat. One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 1914 hours and cleared at 1917 hours. The incident
occurred at 12642 Interurban Ave S, Tukwila in District 001. The local station is 53. The
general description of this property is flammable liquid distribution, pipeline. The primary
task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No
mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0904041 has been assigned to this incident.
Passerby smelled strong smell of mercaptin at propane distribution center. E53 had
previously been at #0904037, a call for the same complaint.
E53 proceeded to the occupancy and investigated, smelling a mercaptin odor. E53 did not
hear any propane being released. E53 did not see any vapor cloud, or any indication of a
propane release. E53 concluded that residual mercaptin was continuing to release, causing
the odor.
E53 returned in service.
