Three units were assigned to this incident. Seven personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1531 hours and cleared at 1736 hours. The incident occurred at 13873 37 Ave S, Tukwila in District 014. The local station is 54. The general description of this property is 1 or 2 family dwelling. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. Other special hoz mat actions were also taken. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 0904543 has been assigned to this incident. L54 arrived to find a strong odor of natural gas outside of a residence. With the Micromax 4gas detector, L54 investigated around the structure wearing full bunkers and SCBA in stanby position. There were no hits on the Micromax, and the odor was concentrated downwind of the house, leading us to believe the odor was inside the house. L54 third placed the 10' hose inside of a kitchen vent and got a reading of 11% of the LEL. It was confirimed that the odor was coming from inside the house, so PSE was called and the gas to the house was secured. Page: 3 Printed: 12/11/2009 22:50:28 Incident Report 2009-0904543 -000 Tukwila Fire Department Narratives E53 pulled a standby line as L54 forced entry through the front of the house and introduced the Micromax through the opening. A reading of 11% of the LEL picked up. L54 then opened the back door and E53 placed a fan at the front door. The LEL quickly dropped off and only a reading of 1% LEL was picked up in the house, and most areas got a zero as a reading. PSE arrived and determined the problem was inside the house. L54 secured the front and rear doors and the scene was turned over to Tukwila PD. The owner of the house had been contacted and was supposed to arrive soon. L54 returned in service.
