At 1217 hours on Saturday May 8, 2010 we were dispatched to an oil or other combustible
liquid spill. Two units were assigned to this incident. Four personnel responded. We
arrived on scene at 1222 hours and cleared at 1246 hours. The incident occurred at 12400
51 PI S, TUKWILA in District 007. The local station is 53. The general description of this
property is railroad right of way. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding
personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
E53 and B51 responded to a possible flammable liquid spill at the Burlington Northern
yard. Upon arrival, we found approximately 2 cups of liquid on the ground from a trailer
containing a mixed load. There were 120 gallons of a flammable/combustible ink on a
pallet in the trailer which matched the liquid leaking. Burlington was in the process of
taking this trailer into a "spill berm" and investigating the contents of the trailer to
determine the problem. As they handle numerous situations like this and the liquid posed
no real threat -the liquid solidified when it hit the ground and gave off no fumes -we turned
it over to them. E53 and B51 then returned.
