Narrative Text At 1936 hours on Friday June 11, 2010 we were dispatched to an oil or other combustible
liquid spill. Two units were assigned to this incident. Six personnel responded. We arrived
on scene at 1942 hours and cleared at 2001 hours. The incident occurred at 14600 I-5 Fwy
N, Tukwila in District 002. The local station is 52. The general description of this property
is highway or divided highway. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding
personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 1001962 has been assigned to this incident.
Received call from Metro that they had a spill of diesel, 2 gallons, on I-5 Northbound at
the S 144 St overpass. Upon arrival E-52 found a Metro bus with a Metro tow truck and
Metro mechanics. They advised that the bus has burst a fuel filter and lost approx ten
gallons of diesel into the ditch and a catch basin. The leak had been repaired and they
were working on absorbing the diesel with floor dry. Metro had another crew enroute
with more floor dry and a vehicle in which to shovel the contaminated floor dry and dirt.
We placed absorband pads into the catch basin. Had E-51 check down stream of the catch
basin to seen if the diesel had been able to migrate down stream. Found no signs of diesel
downstream. Assisted with picking up our absorbant pads and placing in the Metro truck.
Metro crew was fmishing up on shoveling up contaminated dirt and the floor dry that had
absorbed diesel. Clean up was able to retrieve the majority of the diesel.
E-52 returned in service while Metro finished the last of the cleanup.
