Narrative Text At 2145 hours on Thursday April 28, 2011 we were dispatched to an oil or other
combustible liquid spill. One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 2150 hours and cleared at 2203 hours. The incident
occurred at 13435 Interurban Ave S, Tukwila in District 001. The local station is 52. The
general description of this property is service station, gas station. The primary task(s)
performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic
aid was given or received.
E52 found that the about 3 gallons of diesel fuel had flowed out of 1 of the pump nozzles
that wasn't being used. A truck driver was using the satalite nozzle because he only had
one tank on his truck. The handle on the main pump had been set to flow fuel while the
handle was still sitting in the cradle. When the driver started the pump fuel started flowing
from the main pump handle. The driver ran over and stopped it. E52 used 4 bags of
amerizorbe to clean up the spill. All the oil was sitting next to the curb in the fuel pumping
area. No fuel oil went into the ground or into any water.
