Narrative Text At 2222 hours on Sunday September 11, 2011 we were dispatched to an oil or other
combustible liquid spill. Two units were assigned to this incident. Six personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 2229 hours and cleared at 2246 hours. The incident
occurred at 16300 I-5 Fwy S, Tukwila in District 004. The local station is 51. The general
description of this property is highway or divided highway. The primary task(s) performed
at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was
given or received.
Alarm number 1103242 has been assigned to this incident.
WSP requested Fire for an oil spill that is two lanes wide and 300 feet long. Enroute
requested Fire 3 to prompt WSP to get a sanding truck enroute. WSP states that they have
made this request. Upon arrival fmd four WSP units that are blocking off the two lanes of
traffic. Spoke with Trooper and fmd that there was a battery in the traffic lane that was
struck by a vehicle. This vehicle had a hole punched in its aluminum oil pan and the oil
slick occurred. A motor home then struck the battery and blew out the left front tire and
pulled over. A van struck the battery and blew out the right front tire and pulled over.
There were no injuries.
Advised Troopers that for a slick of this size that the sanding truck was the right thing to
call for. They stated that the ETA was 60 minutes and they hoped that we could do
something quicker.
Checked with all vehicles for injuries or any help that we could provide. They were all
waiting for two trucks.
E-52 had been returned and now E-51 was returning- in service.
