Six units were assigned to this incident. Twelve personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 0429 Page: 4 Printed: 03/07/2012 19:10:03 Incident Report 2012-1200774 -000 Tukwila Fire Department Narratives hours and cleared at 0511 hours. The incident occurred at 1368 Southcenter Mall, Tukwila in District 004. The local station is 51. The general description of this property is general retail. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. Other special hoz mat actions were also taken. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 1200774 has been assigned to this incident. E51, E52, B51, E54, A54, and L11 were dispatched to a smell of natural gas in the back hallway of Seafood City Grill at the SC Mall. B51 arrived first and established Command. E51, E52, and E54 investigated, fmding a smell of natural gas in the hallway that did not give any readings on the gas monitor. With the assistance of SC Mall security, E51 investigated the occupancy (Red Ribbon Bakery) next door, to fmd a stronger smell of natural gas, but again, no detectable readings on the gas monitor. E51 located the smell as strongest near a four burner gas stovetop. PSE arrived with more sensitive gas monitoring equipment that did detect some natural gas in the area of the stovetop. PSE discovered that some pilot lights were out on the stovetop, releasing a very small amount of gas. PSE took charge of the situation. All TFD units returned in service.
