Three units were assigned to this incident. Seven personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 0533 hours and cleared at 0643 hours. The incident occurred at 400 Costco Dr, Tukwila in District 005. The local station is 51. The general description of this property is vehicle parking area. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel were hazardous materials spill control and confinement. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. E51 was called to the scene for a diesel spill in the Costco parking lot. On arrival found responsible parties on location with minimal mitigation attempts in effect. On further investigation a delivery semi had struck a parking lot light post and had badly damaged it's drivers side fuel cell and battery box. Apparently after striking the lamp post, he continued around the lot eventually stopping on the lot at it's eastern perimeter. E51 called for additional resources and began spill mitigation to include applying amerizorb on all surfaces and placing a containment pool under the leaking fuel cell. Addition resources arrived with additional absorbent and assisted with application. Costco had an electrician on scene who mitigated the power to the lamp post. Also a cleanup agency was called by Costco to finalize mitigation of the fuel tanks as well as fmal cleanup. Scene was transferred to said agent and E51 returned in service. Amerizorb paperwork was completed at scene and included the use of 19 bags of absorbent and 2 - 66ga1. Prowler containment pools.
