On Monday, 26 August 2013 at 1457 Hrs, Tukwila Fire Units responded to a report of a
natural gas leak inside a building. Fire units from Renton and King County Fire District
#2 also responded.
On arrival E51 was met by a property management representative (Alex Garza) who
reported that an occupant in space 900 reported a smell of natural gas. This individual
then left the scene; Garza was unable to find the odor reported by the occupant.
E51 investigated spaces 900, 902, 904, and 906 and did not detect an odor of natural gas,
no abnormal readings were detected on the portable gas monitor. Space 900 had a strong
odor similar to a freshly cleaned carpet, but no mercaptan odor was detected.
Examination of the three gas meters on the NW corner of the building: two were shut off
(including the supply to space 900); and the third was not flowing gas.
Incoming units were cancelled, E51, E53, and B51 cleared the scene.
No further action taken.
