Narratives
TPD officer came into Sta 51 to report odor of natural gas in the area of 53 Av S and S
160 St. He stated that the odor seemed to be persistent and maybe we should check it out.
E-51 and B-51 responded and found definite odor in the area. Search led us to 5155 S 160
St. This is a vacant bank repo house. Monitor at the front door bottom edge immediately
set the gas monitor off in alarm. Went to the gas meter and found it to be mostly shut off
but not fully and it was flowing. TPD found the back door of the house to be wide open.
PSE was called for. After ten minutes we were able to open windows and doors and get
natural ventilation going. Found gas valve in the living room to be open with no appliance
hooked up. This house is vacant and some remodeling has been started at some point but
no work appears to being taken recently.
After about 30minutes PSE rep arrived. The house was now well ventilated. He locked
out the meter and checked for leaks there. He capped off the inside line and we were all
done. House was secured.
E-51/ B-51 in service- returning.
