McFarland, Loren Author Rank CAPT Author Assignment 1 Narrative Text At 2055 hours on Tuesday September 30, 2014 we were dispatched to a gas leak. Seven Page: 7 Printed: 09/30/2014 23:14:18 Incident Report 2014-1403842 -000 Tukwila Fire Department Narratives units were assigned to this incident. Twelve personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 2059 hours and cleared at 2118 hours. The incident occurred at 100 Southcenter Mall, Tukwila in District 004. The local station is 51. The general description of this property is mercantile, business. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. Other special haz mat actions were also taken. Automatic aid was received on this incident. Alarm number 1403842 has been assigned to this incident. Dispatched to the report of a natural gas odor in the kitchen of Nordstroms Cafe. Upon arrival by B-51 business was not evacuated. B-51 requested of Nordstrom security that the business be evacuated. As E-51 was entering the business the employees were exiting the business. E-51 assigned to go to the third floor and investigate. Also air sampling was happening. Upon arrival in the kitchen area there may have been a very slight odor of natural gas. Employee states that the gas valves for the three gas kitchen appliances had been turned off about fifteen minutes ago. No flammable readings were registered on the Gas Alert monitor. Believe that a pilot light had probably gone out and the small amount of gas from this was what caused the odor. They are going to leave the gas off for tonight. In the morning maintenance will tum the gas back on and light up the pilots and also check for any other gas leaks. B-51 code greened incoming mutual aid units and soon after released Tukwila units. E-51 in service- returning.
