Narrative Text At 1111 hours on Thursday October 16, 2014 we were dispatched to a carbon monoxide
incident. Nine units were assigned to this incident. Fourteen personnel responded. We
arrived on scene at 1113 hours and cleared at 1142 hours. The incident occurred at 978
Industry Dr, Tukwila in District 005. The local station is 51. The general description of
this property is business office. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding
personnel was ventilation. Other special haz mat actions were also taken. Automatic aid
was received on this incident.
Alarm number 1404071 has been assigned to this incident.
First alarm units for natural gas leak inside were dispatched to the above address. B51 was
first on location and determined that the building had been evacuated after speaking to
building management - Alex Garza (206.248.7350).
B51 established Incident Command and assigned E52 to used our gas monitor on the
second floor of the 2 story office complex. E52 immediately received readings of 72 ppm
of CO on the gas monitor. E52 withdrew from the building. L54 was assigned to help E52
set up PPV for ventilation and all other units were cancelled en route.
E52 set our electric fan in one stairwell door and used a second stairwell as an exit point.
L54 continued air monitoring on the second floor until they received an all clear on their
gas monitor. E52 then monitored all of the first floor units and received an all clear on the
gas monitor.
The source of the CO came from a large mobile compressor that is used for texturing. The
occupant Kevin Bradley in suite 976 of Mariner Construction (360.535.2437) stated that
they opened the rear roll up door and ran the gas powered compressor inside the bay. The

compressor ran for approximately 20 mins before the alarm was called in. They were
advised to roll the compressor outside of the bay door and not run the compressor inside
the building.
B51, L54 and E52 all returned in service.
