time, I see a PSE employee and exclaim how quickly he got there. It turns out that PSE
was called about 45 minutes prior to 911 being called. He told me that 4 doors to the right
of 17095 was an asian restaurant that turns off their pilot lights. When they come in to
work in the morning, they light them back up. During this period, an amount of natural gas
goes up through the vent system. The adjacent hvac systems suck in the gas odor and the
occupants start smelling gas. He said he began at the restaurant and there were no readings
there. The other two adjacent doors had no readings. In 17095, he had 10-15 ppm on
methane and 0 on CO. Very minor readings. At this point, I advised command that there
was no need for incoming units, that we could handle. Units were code green and released.
We assisted him onto the roof to make sure that was clear and it was. He stated he was
getting a tech crew out to verify everything was working properly in the restaurant. He also
stated that on Monday, he would get a crew out to fix a minor leak (completely unrelated
to our call) at back of the asian restaurant at their meter. I checked that out and there was
only a very slight odor right around the meter itself.
I wasn't sure who called 911, so I went to the CAD to check it out and found it was Red
Wing Shoe Store, on the other side of the courtyard. They were perhaps in a foot store next
to the restaurant when this came in as there was no problem this far down. KB
