Three units were assigned to this incident. Seven personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1324 hours and cleared at 1359 hours. The incident occurred at 12600 E Marginal Way S, Tukwila in District 007. The local station is 54. The general description of this property is street or road in commercial area. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. Other special hoz mat actions were also taken. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. L54 and E53 were dispatched to a natural gas leak outside a building with construction workers present. On arrival L54 found a construction company working on the road running new underground pipe. L54 investigated while E53 blocked traffic. On investigation L54 found Puget Sound Energy already on location. The construction had a approximately 10 foot deep ditch with a trench box in it. The Natural gas line was a 1 1/4" line serving a vacant property. The line had broken by the collapse of the ground outside the box. L54 established E Marginal Command and E53 pulled up into the parking lot to the west of the ditch and pulled and 1 3/4" handline for exposure protection. L54 confirmed that no work on the line would be conducted outside the trench box. The construction company then used heavy equipment to dig back the end that had sluffed in. B51 arrived and assumed command. The line was secured by Puget Sound Energy with out any further difficulties. E. Marginal Command was disbanded and all units went in service out of quarters. Alarm number 1500955 has been assigned to this incident.
