On Monday, August 10, 2015 at 1006 hrs, Engines 51 and 52 were dispatched to an
unknown type spill on Northbound I-5, North of Interurban Av S.
While en route, we were advised that DOT and WSP were on location, requesting FD
assistance to identify the material and source of a leak from the back of a panel truck
involved in the incident.

Narratives
On arrival (1010) E51 found a three car motor vehicle collision on the shoulder of
Northbound I-5, just south of the S 129 St curve (just prior to the bridge).
Driver reported that he was transporting five gallon containers of wood stain.
Liquid was dripping from the driver's side of the box truck. Absorbant had been spread on
the ground by DOT employees. DOT policy required FD to be on scene before opening
the back of the truck.
E52 blocked traffic upstream from incident and stood by.
E51 crew reconned the truck (full structural gear and SCBA) and identified one metal
container had ruptured, spilling its contents inside the truck. A full pallet of containers had
broken free in the back of the truck.
Crew filled the open bucket with absorbant, and placed all other loose containers upright
in the back of the truck. A bag of absorbant was spread over the interior of the cargo
truck.
Scene released back to DOT/WSP - no further action by TFD required.
