At 0926 hours on Friday January 8, 2016 we were dispatched to an oil or other
combustible liquid spill. Three units were assigned to this incident. Seven personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 0932 hours and cleared at 1010 hours. The incident
occurred at 10700 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR Way S, Tukwila in District 007. The
local station is 53. The general description of this property is highway or divided highway.
The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was hazard removal.
No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 1600113 has been assigned to this incident.
E53 and B51 arrived to find 12 5 -gallon paint buckets standing up on the sidewalk on the
east side of MLKJ Way S. From the intersection of Ryan Way and MLK, to the north the
paint was spilled across both lanes of MLK for about 100 yards, with cars driving through
the wet paint. E53 blocked traffic with PD. E53 used approximately 4 bags of Amerizorb
and 12 absorbant pads at the south end of the spill to protect the storm drains. E52 used
approximately 4 bags of Amerizorb at the north end of the spill.
The driver, Victor Martinez, WADL MARTIVA162JM, was driving a flat bed truck
eastbound on Boeing Access Road and made a left turn onto MLK. Twelve full buckets of
paint spilled onto the roadway. Prior to TFD's arrival, the driver moved all the buckets
from the street to the sidewalk. The driver is employed by Drywall Distributors, P.O. Box
14, Woodinville, WA 98072. The insurance company is Redmond General Insurance
Agency, 17270 Wdnvl-Rdmnd Road, Woodinville, WA 98072. The policy number is
19704. The license plate number is WA B92804N.
