Narratives
E51 was dispatched to a CO alarm. E51 arrived to a Starbucks store with employees inside
working. There was a pressure washer at the front doors that looked to have been used
recently. The exhaust from the pressure washer was pointed at the front doors and was
about 6' away.
Employees were from a Starbucks -contracted cleaning company. Two employees
self -evacuated upon our arrival. An employee, Nelly Carrillo (425-312-5882) related they
had been operating the pressure washer and noticed a "beeping" had started inside the
business approx 20 min prior to our arrival.
E51 took a reading at the front door and the monitor started to alarm. E51 went 'on air' and
found readings in the main common area of 35 ppm and readings of 42 ppm in the back
bathrooms. E51 used an electric fan and ventilated the building until readings reached 0
ppm.
E51 contacted Diebold Security (1-800-548-4478) who related the CO alarm had reset.
E51 returned the store back to the employees and returned in service.
