On Monday, 14 March 2016, at 1634 hrs Engine 52 was dispatched to 12400 51 P1 S
(BNSF Rail Yard) for an unknown type spill.
Battalion 51 added himself to the response.
On arrival, we were advised by the Yard Supervisor that a truck had leaked oil in the yard
and off of the property. They did not know which truck it was, or where it was going.
Investigation revealed an extensive sheen that smelled like diesel fuel went from in the
yard, off the property and westbound on S 124 St to the 42 Av S intersection.
Heavy rain in the area was dispersing the sheen, and that the shee was NOT flowing
towards the S 124 St storm drains.
BNSF personnel had already called the Department of Ecology.
E52 spread absorbant in the intersection of S 124 St & 42 Av S to reduce the slipperiness
on the roadway.
