TUKWILA FIRE DEPARTMENT INCIDENT REPORT NARRATIVE
Date: 01/25/95 Incident: 95-000284-000
Dispatched to an odar of gasoline in the home. Upon arrival we found a
10' by 40' mobile home. We detected a slight odar outside, and inside
the odar seemed the same.
Our investigation found that the property owner of the residence just
south of this address hadpoured out some old gasoline onto some weeds
he had along the fence between the two properties. The fumes from that
old gas hung low all day, and the fumes traveled to underneath Mr.
Dosonos mobile home. Since mobile homes cold air intake is from the
outside, I believe the fumes were sucked into the air intake and
released into the mobile home.
The odar inside was very week, not of a concentration that was
ignitable. We had Mr. Dosono air out his home.
I spoke later with the individual that poured out the gasoline. He said
he was told that old gas was not good to use in the lawnmower, and that
the best thing to do with it is to pour it out on the ground to kill
weeds. I advised him that that was a common practice years ago, but in
this day of environmental concerns, that proper disposal of old fuel is
the correct and legal thing to do. He apologized to the neighbor and
the fire department, and said he would not do that any more.
