Engine 51, 52 dispatched to a smell of natural gas in a business. Call
came in on business line to station 51. We found strong smell of
natural gas in store upon arrival. We called WNG and investigated the
other businesses in the complex. We found that the restaurant next door
was working on the ventilation system and had shut down the hood system
without turning off the gas fired grills. The gas smell traveled next
door, in the overhead area which was common between the restaurant and
jewelry store. We had them turn the hood system back on and turned on
the HVAC in the store which dispersed the -gas smell. WNG 'arrived and
took air samples and cleared the store of any natural gas. Engine 51
returned to quarters.
