TUKWILA FIRE DEPARTMENT INCIDENT REPORT NARRATIVE
Date: 02/12/97 Incident: 97-000518-000
Dispatched to a "suspicious looking package" at the SeaFirst Bank.
Upon arrival the bank manager showed us a cardboard box with an
"Oxidizer" label on it and the chemical name of Sodium Nitrate. The
manager was concerned because she, nor any of her employees knew
anything about why the box was delivered to their branch. She also
called the bank offices and they did not know anything about it being
shipped to them. 5o she called 911.
As part of our investigation, we discovered that this chemical
container was shipped to several SeaFirst banks for their water
treatment system. The shipper and UPS knew the chemical was ordered,
but did not know who ordered it. I instructed her that the container
was safe and that she just needed to find out who, in the company,
ordered it.
All units returned in service.
