Upon our arrival PD advised they had stopped the vehicle for another crime they had committed. The vehicle was occupied by two females that stated they knew nothing about the cylinders in the trunk. They stated to me that the car was owned by a man named Norm. The females were not feeling any symptoms secondary to chemical exposure. While searching the vehicle for stollen property, PD came upon 2 pressurized cylinders and a can of butayn. PD had already thoroughly searched the car front to back when they came upon the chemicals, and informed us that they had not noticed any other chemicals. One officer did report a short burst of the smell of ammonia when he opened a box that contained an 02 cylinder in it. The odar disipated immediatly and did not return. That is when they felt it may be a meth lab and called for fire to assist. FF M.Brooks and myself, in full protective clothing and an SCBA, approached the car for recon. We found no other indication of meth lab parifinalia, except the cylinder connections looked like they may have been tampered with. PD wanted the cylinders removed for general public safety so we overpacked them in a 55 gallon drum. We had contacted DOE already today to come and pick up some other cylinders that were left at station 54 by Tukwila police. They were all of a similar product, and so were compatible to overpack together. No containers were leaking or spilled. PD did not have a crime at this point that was related to the cylinders, so crime scene preservation was not an issue to them. We took the drum to city shops at Minkler and locked it in the evidence cage there. c?g_ 0373 Incident History tor: #TF99000356 CN: $TF99000373 Xref: *TP99003256 Received 02/02/99 17:12:47 BY PD33 /JOSEPH Entered 02/02/99 17:12:47 BY PD33 /JOSEPH Dispatched 02/02/99 17:12:49 BY FD21 /DUFFIN Onscene 02/02/99 17:15:30 Closed 02/02/99 18:32:01 Initial Type: HZLEAK Initial.
