HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-08-07 Regular MinutesAugust 7, 1961 The regular meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, C.L -arles Q. Baker, at 8 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Iviinkler, A. G. Radford, E. W. Ives and Jerry Hamilton. One only, bid was received for street improvement work. The bid of Rainier Asphalt Paving Co.4ayor Baker asked Mr. Radford, Chairman of Streets and Mr. Zepp, Street Superintendent, to retire and reciew the bid. The minutes of the July meetings wre read and approved as read. A letter from Mr. E. P. Lutes was read. It brought up a drainage problem. Mayor baker referred the letter to Mr. Radford. Current bills were examined and vouchers signed. Mr. £iadford returned to Council table and reported they had found the bid of Rainier Asphalt Paving Co. satisfactory. i »r. 11 adford moved Council accept the bid of the hainier Asphalt Paving Co., seconded by Ivir. Minkler and carried. Mr. Eberett Drugge, with Harstad Associates, reported he had studied the bids submitted and received at the meeting of August 2nd for furnishing and installing "Sewage Treatment Facilities" and recommended the bid of Puget Western, Inc. be accepted and contract awarded to them. 275 L August 7, 1961(continued) Mr. Hamilton moved Council accept the bid of Puget Western, Inc. of x98,550.00 for said Schedule C- Sewage Traetment Facilities, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. hadford moved Ord. r 332, relating to a system of Sewage for Tukwila and amending Sec. 5, 6 and 7 of Ord. 320 and Sec.3 of Ord. #321 of Tukwila, be placed on its second reading, seconded by Litt. namilton and carried. Mr. namilton moved Ord. 332 be placed mn its third reading and final passage, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. An Agreement by and between Puget Western, Inc. and the Town of Tukwila, guaranteeing payment of sewage disposal charges, maintenance and operation expenses of water works utility and sewage system and debt services requirements of bonds was read and discussed. j +ir. namilton moved Council approve this agreement, seconded by Mr. ives and carried. Mr. Minkler moved the Mayor and Clerk of Tukwila be authorized to sign this agreement for the Town of Tukwila, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. C. V. Fawcett, with McLgen and Company, presented a proposal of McLean and Company, Inc. to buy Tukwila Water and Sewer hevenue Bonds. Mr. Minkler moved Council accept this proposal of McLean and Company, seconded by Mr. namilton and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved Ord. 334, providing for issuance of :,170,000 'c "Water and Sewer Revenue bonds, 1961 be placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved Sec. 7, paragraph (b) be amended by adding "State and Federal" before "taxes line 19, to read "maintenance costs and State and Federal taxes seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Ives moved Ordinance 334, as amended as above, be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. nor. Hamilton moved Ordinance 334, as amended be placed on its third reading and final passage, seconded by Mr. Ives atd carried. Mr. Hamilton moved Ord. 333, granting a franchise to the City of Seattle to use portions of town streets for a 60 in. water line, be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Minkler moved Ord. 333 be amended and corrected as proposed by discussion, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. namilton moved Ordinance 331, as amended be placed on its third reading and final passage, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Meeting was recessed at 11 :00 P.M. to meet on August 21, at 8 :00 P .M.
