Councilmen present were Stan jvlinkler, E. W. Ives, R. K. Doyle and J. A. llamilton. mayor Baker administered the oath of office to Mr. Alfred Hancuff, who had served a probationary period as Police Officer, and welcomed him into the Official family. The minmtes of the September meetings were read and approved as read. The :natter was referred to Mr. burzenski, Engineer, to ascertain if permit were necessary and whether the work endangers adjoining property. The report of the Fire Dept. contained the need of an additional Fire Truck. Mr. Minkler moved the 'Town advertise for bids on a new l Fire truck to be opened on November 6, 1961, seconded by i Ives and carried. Mr. D. L. Krueger, of 56th Ave. So, questioned the action taken regarding his dog, under Ord. No. 249. Baker asked Mr. o uodge, attorney,to study the ordinance to see if correct action had been taken. Mr. Hamilton presented an application for a Business License from Mr. elaude N. Dodd, Merchant Patrolman and moved this License be granted, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Hamilton presented a request from i <r. .add for a i'rtvate Invest igatorEs License and moved this License be granted, seconded by ;r.Ives' and carried. A letter from Mrs. LJassani noted a sidewalk problem. i;ir. Ives, Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Zepp were asked to investigate. Mayor Daker reported the State Highway Dept. had asked our cooper- ation in attempting to solve a drainage problem along Interuraban Ave. So, north of 58th Ave. So. Mr. Doyle moved we accept the cooperation of the State highway Dept. and work with them, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. 291 The Council dilcussed the request to vacate certain portions of So. 162nd St. and 54th Ave. S. Mr. Doyle moved the Council do so and a rlearing be held on Nov. 6, 1961, seconded by i,'ir. Ives and carried. u Drew gave an interesting report on District Schools. Mr. Doyle moved Ord. 336, the budget for 1962, be placed on its third reading and final passage, seconded by :'r. Hamilton anc carried. Mayor baker appointed Mr. Gepp, rir. Long, Mir. Radford, Mr. Ives and Mr. hamilton a committee to work on setting up the Arterial Street i*bffd. There was a discussion of a proposal that the Town of Tukwila enter into a stabilization pond lease with Puget Western, Inc. October 9, 1961 Mr. burzenski reported on the excavation on Interirban Ave. S. iie declared it was not in violation of any town ordinance.
