HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-11-20 Adjourned Minutes November 20, 1961 The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, Charles 6. Baker, at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, E. W. Ives and Jerry °amilton. Mayor Baker reported he had received an invitation from Mayor Clinton of Seattle to attend a meeting of the Seattle Annexation Committee, being held this evening, Nov. 20th. Since he could not attend George Long was representing him and presenting a letter to the Seattle Annexation heview Board, which Mr. Long will read. Mr. Minkler read a copy of this letter in which Mayor Baker stated the Town of Tukwila was opposed to the proposed Seattle annexation and why it was so opposed. Mr. Minkler moved the Council approve the November 20, 1961(continued) letter and iViayor Baker's action in presenting it to the Seattle Annexation Review Board, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Upon the recommendation of the Tukwila Panning Commission, a Public Hearing was held on two proposed amendments to Ord. No. 251. There being no objections Mr. Hamilton moved the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted and a public Hearing he set for Monday, December 11, 1961, at 8 :00 P.M. in the Council chambers of the Tukwila Town Hall, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. A bill for 014.40 from Tim McCullough, Sheriff, for board of prtflsoners, was presented. Mr. Minkler moved the bill be allowed and a warrant be drawn for same, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Duxbury presented his resignation as Director of Civil Defense. k/ Mr. Minkler moved the resignation be accepted, seconded by Mr. Ives 0" and carried. Marshal Earle Parker recpmmended appointments for setting up the Police Department Civil e'�ii a Program, as follows: Rank of Captain for Marshal Earle Parker; rank of Captain and haed of the Juvenile Department for Alfred H. Hancuff; rank of Sergeant for Robert E. Pigg. Mr. Kinkier moved Council approve these appointments, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mayor Baker asked for a decision od the bid on the Fire Truck. Mr. Hamilton reported the Flee Department were satisfied. with the bid and he moved Council accept the bid of Americain LaFrance Co. with a six year contract for payment, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. Ives moved Ord. 341, fixing rates for sewer charges, be placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Brugge and Mr. Hodge consulted and agreed changes should be made in the Ordinance. Mr. Hamilton then moved reading of this ordinance should be continued to November 30th, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. The Tukwila Planning Commission recommended that the requested temporary revised access of Christianson Road to PSH -1- RE plan be allowed. Mr. Minkler moved Council accept this recommendation and the request be granted, with the provision that the approaches be of ri asphalt or concrete paving, seconded by Mr. rlamilton and carried. By motion meeting recessed at 10 :10 p.m. to meet on Nov. 30, at 8:00 p.m.
