Resolution No. 1230 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING THE
"GEORGE D. LONG MAINTENANCE FACILITY" AT THE
INTERURBAN PUBLIC WORKS SHOPS FACILITY.
WHEREAS, George D. Long was a devoted City of Tukwila employee, having worked
for the City for some twelve years; and
WHEREAS, George D. Long was the first, and for some years, the only street, water and
parks employee serving under Mayor Frank Zepp; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his assigned duties, George D. Long served as a volunteer
firefighter and police officer for the City of Tukwila; and
WHEREAS, George D. Long served the City of Tukwila unselfishly, using his home as
his office and repairing City equipment on his own time using his own resources; and
WHEREAS, George D. Long always looked out for the best interests of the employees
who worked for him, working alongside them in "the trenches" and opening his home to any
employee who wanted to stop by to discuss work issues as well as personal problems; and
WHEREAS, Tukwila City officials have agreed that George D. Long should be honored
by the naming of some City property in his honor,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
That the building now known as the City of Tukwila Interurban Shop, located at 14000
Interurban Avenue, will be renamed the "George D. Long Maintenance Facility."
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ITY OF TUK A, WASHINGTON, at
a regular meeting thereof this a'`— day of 1992.
