Phillips Little League Field at Foster Memorial ParkCity of Tukwila Washington Resolution No. 1247 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING THE "LEE R. PHILLIPS LITTLE LEAGUE FIELD" AT THE SOUTHEAST YOUTH BASEBALL FIELD IN FOSTER MEMORIAL PARK. WHEREAS, Lee R. Phillips was a resident of the City of Tukwila for over forty seven years; and WHEREAS, Lee R. Phillips founded in 1955 and managed the first City of Tukwila Little League Baseball Team for youth between the ages of nine and twelve years old; and WHEREAS, Lee R. Phillips served the City of Tukwila as an Honorable Tukwila Police Court Judge from 1956 to 1964; and WHEREAS, Lee R. Phillips sat on several selection boards for the City of Tukwila, including two boards selecting the Chief of Police; and WHEREAS, Lee R. Phillips formed in 1958 and managed the first Babe Ruth Baseball Team in Tukwila for youth between the ages of thirteen and fifteen years old; and WHEREAS, Lee R. Phillips established and chartered the Tukwila Little League Baseball and Softball League in 1961, which is known today as Foster Little League, celebrating its thirty -third year as a chartered league of the Nation Little League System for boys and girls between the ages of six and eighteen; and WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila Parks Commission has agreed that Lee R. Phillips should be honored by the naming of some City facility in his honor; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: That the Southeast Youth Baseball Field in Foster Memorial Park be named the "Lee R. Phillips Little League Field." PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT OF TLJKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a regular meeting thereof this 5th day of April 1993. ATTEST AU Jane E.
