Resolution No. 1266 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON AWARDING THE BID FOR THE
PURCHASE OF AN ASPHALT PAVER FOR THE STREET
DEPARTMENT TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER.
WHEREAS, the City did solicit competitive Bids for the purchase of an asphalt paver to be
used by the Street Department; and
WHEREAS, such bids were opened by the City Clerk's Office and read aloud on April 17,
1993; and
WHEREAS, bids were received from Star Rentals and Sales and Sahlberg Construction
Equipment and Safety Supplies; and
WHEREAS, each bid was reviewed for conformance to the formal bid specifications issued at
the time bids were solicited; and
WHEREAS, the bid by Sahlberg had eight exceptions to the required specifications and the
bid by Star Rentals had sixteen exceptions to the required specifications; and
WHEREAS, the bid by Star Rentals included a deficiency which makes their bid unacceptable
to the City; and
WHEREAS, the second lowest bidder did not have any major deviations to the specifications
as stipulated when bids were solicited, thus providing a responsible bid for the purposes of competitive
bidding as required in RCW 35.23.352;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The apparent low bid of $24,348.25 by Star Rentals and Sales is not accepted
because it fails to meet the required specifications.
Section 2. The bid for the purchase of one Tow -Type Paver is hereby awarded to the lowest
responsible bidder, Sahlberg Equipment Inc., in the amount of $24,452.55 including tax.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE, CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this day of 0 .1993.
