Attached is a proposed contract amendment extending the term of the contract to June 30, 2023. BACKGROUND The City contracts the Walls Law Firm for Prosecution Services. The term for the current contract expires December 31, 2022. One of the firm members may be appointed to a judicial position with King County effective January, 2023, which will impact who is appointed as the lead prosecuting attorney for the City of Tukwila. To ensure continuity of service the City is extending the term of the contract through June 30, 2023. This will allow time for the City and the firm to address any impacts to service from the pending judicial appointment. DISCUSSION Compensation will continue at $12,500 per month. As a six-month extension equates to $75,000 in compensation, we are bringing the amendment before Council for approval. RECOMMENDATION The Committee is being asked to move this contract amendment forward to the November 21, 2022 consent agenda. This Agreement shall be in full force and effect for a period commencing January 1, 2021 and ending Deeembe-r-31T1322-June 3Q, 2023unless sooner terminated under the provisions hereinafter specified or extended by the express written consent of Contractor and the Mayor or his designee.
