The following commissioners attended the regularly scheduled meeting of the Tukwila Civil Service
Commission: Ron Johnston, Kathleen Wilson, and Steve Wheeler. Others in attendance were Police Chief Bruce
Linton, Assistant Fire Chief Chris Flores, Battalion Chief Rich Rees, HR Director Juan Padilla, and Michelle
Godyn, HR Analyst/Civil Service Examiner.

Lateral Police Officer
Commissioner Ron Johnston called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.
The December 10, 2019, minutes were approved. No corrections were
noted.
Michelle Godyn, Civil Service Examiner introduced HR Director
Juan Padilla to the Commissioners.
Michelle Godyn, Civil Service Examiner presented to the
Commissioners Civil Service Commissioner Meetings calendar.
Commissioner Ron Johnston announced 2019 Commissioner rotation as
Chairperson and Kathleen Wilson Vice -Chairperson.
Police Chief Bruce presented the Commission a staffing update. He
reported the Police department has 74 out of 78 commissioned police
officer positions. There are three (3) Lateral Officers in background, five
(5) Lateral Officer completed FTO and three (3) Entry Level Police
Officers graduating in March and two (2) Entry Level Police Officer
pending for the Academy and starting on January 22, 2019. Entry Level
Police Eligibility was exhausted and Entry Level Police Oral Boards for
taking place on January 24, 2019. Non -Commissioned Officers 19
positions and 17 full duty. Police Records Specialist, Lea Park starting
January 14, 2019, Ambra Durbin, starting February 5, 2019.
It is to be recorded that the following name for the Lateral Police
certified outside of a regular meeting commencing January 8, 2019.
Tentative offer made to John Rainey and Aaron Zwicky. Each candidate
going through first phase of background process. Lisa McGhaw
withdrew her candidacy.

Reinstatement letter from
James E. Dunkley
ADJOURNMENT
OF REGULAR MEETING
YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 8, 2019 OR UNTIL
DEPLETED. MOTION PASSED.
Battalion Chief Rich Rees presented the Commission a staffing update.
Four (4) Firefighter Recruits will be graduating on January 24, 2019 and
invited the Commissioners to their graduation. Final offers were made to
Jamie Steinbacher, Troy Miller, and William Naemura. Jamie declined
the position on January 10, 2019. Troy and William starting in February
Fire Academy.
Former Firefighter, James E. Dunkley requested for reinstatement and
added on the eligibility list as a Firefighter 1st class. Commissioner Ron
Johnston motioned the request to be granted with Jamie Steinbacher
declining a position as of January 10, 2019.
