December 12, 2022 Nuhamin Regassa Foster Black Student Union 4242 S 144th St Tukwila, WA, 98168 To The Equity and Social Justice Commission, On behalf of Foster's Black Student Union, I'd like to thank you for your grant of $2,000. Thanks to you, it's possible for us to have fundings dedicated to our club's missions. One, to teach our peers and staff members of the importance Black culture has. Second, to involve students with the diversity within our campus. And lastly, to display and exemplify Black excellence in the world around us. With the funding we've received, we can arrange our Black History Month assemblies and daily activities that are connected to Black History Month for the whole school to participate in. It'll also help support a "Black -Out Night -Out!", which is an evening event that we host each year. We have black -owned businesses cater us the entire time, a guest speaker to share words, and have students display acts of Black excellence. And lastly, it would go towards causes such as future field trips, one being the Northwest African-American Museum in Seattle. Hopefully, during February, Black History Month, we'll go over to have a tour and maybe some sort of activity to further understand our identity. We strongly believe that our school can always improve and learn more on how to support our community. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me through my email, nuhaminregassal@gmail.com, or our advisor, Ashley Byrd, at abyrd@urbanleague.org Thank you again in advance for reaching out and contributing to our purpose. Sincerely, Nuhamin A. Regassa Foster BSU President
