The battery capacity required may be determined from the following information. CAUTION The battery may contain sulfuric acid which can cause severe burns to the skin and eyes, and cause damage to fabrics. If the battery leaks, and contact is made with the sulfuric acid, immediately flush skin or eyes with water for at least fifteen (15) minutes. For eye contact, seek immediate medical attention. A good neutraliz- ing solution for sulfuric acid is water and house- hold baking soda. 10.1 1500 CONTROL PANEL BATTERY INFORMATION The standby and alarm requirement for system components are detailed in the TABLE below. The minimum Ampere -hour (AH) capacity of a standby battery may be calculated from the total system standby load, hours of required standby operation, standby alarm current and the required duration of alarm signaling (typically 5-10 minutes). To connect a 24 VDC battery, connect the RED battery lead to the POSITIVE aide of the battery and the BLACK lead to the NEGATIVE side of the battery. To connect two 12-VDC batteries in Series, follow the directions below. 1. Connect the RED battery lead to the POSITIVE side of battery 11. 2. The following revisions or additions to the design as shown would qualify the protection for improved rates based upon information shown on these plans: Arrangements should be made to allow a representative of this Bureau to complete a cover inspection of all piping before it is concealed by building construction, and to witness tests of the local water motor alarm and sprinkler supply test pipe. Completed copies of the Contractor's Material and Test Certificates for both the overhead and underground piping should be submitted to this Bureau. All piping, valves, and fittings should be listed and labeled by UL for fire service and installed, tested, and flushed in accordance with NFPA standards. Wet pipe sprinkler equipment is acceptable subject to provision of a thermostatically controlled heating system capable of maintaining temperatures at not less than 40 degrees F in all spaces containing wet pipe sprinkler equipment. 1. Proposed design is acceptable for storage of class IV commodities in racks to not more than 18-19 ft. in height, using conventional pallets, and 8 ft. aisles. If storage exceeds these limits, the design should be reinforced to adequately protect the increased hazards. 2. Maximum velocities in calculations should not exceed 20 feet per second for overhead sprinkler piping. Provide an indicating gate valve in the supply main at the property line. 4. Trapeze hangers used to support piping below the lightweight wood and metal tube trusses in office should span 3 trusses for 3 inch and smaller piping and span 4 trusses for larger piping, or provide written certification from a licensed structural engineer that the trusses and roof loads have been analyzed for the additional loads imposed by water filled sprinkler piping and additional 250 pounds at each point of support. Trapeze hangers should be secured to the trusses. ,"7 5. Provide minimum 6 inch three-way fire department pumper connection and provide details of the proposed backflow assembly including specification sheets and friction loss curves. 6. Extend sprinkler protection to all areas including exterior eaves, soffits, canopies, to filter compartments of heating and air conditioning equipment, intermediate levels of storage racks, and to roof skylights.
